Snoopy Museum Tokyo

2016/07/07

Snoopy Museum Tokyo is a limited time attraction in the Roppongi area.

It only opened in April so I am very excited to be visiting here!

We ran into some trouble purchasing the tickets online. The official site released some premium tickets including an anytime all day entrance pass and a limited edition Snoopy clear file. The price wasn't that much more expensive than the normal ticket so you could imagine the hype.

But of course limited things are always hard to get, after the 3rd time trying to buy the tickets, they were sold out in minutes. It was CRAZY.

Thus normal tickets it is lol.

We bought tickets for the first group of the day at 10am. There was no time limit of how long you could stay there, as long as you are inside.

Right from the get go, through the gates you will see an evolution of Snoopy over the years.

My mom said the far right looks so much like a dog!

I said: mom, Snoopy is a dog... lolol

Let's head in!!

At the counter when we gave the lady our electronic tickets, she gave us each a hard copy souvenir ticket.

Each copy is a different Peanuts comic strip!

The museum is mainly divided into four sections: the introduction hall, main gallery, gift shop, and the cafe.

About every 6 months, the exhibition theme will change, so when I visited, the theme was "愛しのピーナッツMy Favourite Peanuts". Apparently once the exhibition changes, the gift shop and the cafe menu will change according to the specific theme!

Intro Hall

Once you enter the introductory hall, you will spot a grand piece of art.

This wall is filled with 4452 original Peanuts comic strips forming this image of snoopy resting on Charlie Brown.

It really is stunning and because each is a unique piece of the story, you could stand here all day reading the comics.

Here is a close up of the structure, some of the strips are raised from the wall to create a 3D look.

The other side of this hall.

Numerous photos and original sketches from the author Charles M. Schulz.

!! Make sure to take your time with pictures, browsing the exhibition because once you leave each section, you are not allowed to go back.

Once we're ready to move on, we are led through a door to a small viewing room in groups.

Here, they show a small clip of interviews and footages of the author and the opening day of this museum as an introduction to the exhibition.

They do not allow pictures and videos from this point on!

This same video is shown in the gallery section as well.

Gallery

Next the real exhibition begins!

Inside here, photography is not allowed in the first half of the room.

This part is where they display all the original illustrations.

If you browse in a linear order, you get the chance to read the full story from beginning to end :)

Once you enter the next part of the exhibition, you will be allowed to take pictures again.

oh hello!

You don't have to worry if you can't read Japanese, the museum leaves all the comics in their original language.

There are many of these little holes for you to peek through and discover what Snoopy's up to!

A display of vintage Snoopy toys

Life size Linus :D

Halfway through the exhibition, we found an interesting pillar covered in white fur.

There wasn't much information text nearby explaining what this represents but apparently this is Snoopy's fur.

For all the people that always wanted to snuggle or pat Snoopy, this is what it would feel like, so fluffy and so soft... lol

There was also a small moniter showing the film "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". It was set up like a small theatre room with little Peanuts characters looking at the screen.

We had a hard time taking pictures with them hahah. ;)

This was the last little section before the end of the exhibition, a little sneak peak of the next exhibition theme. "Hello again, Snoopy もういちど、はじめましてスヌーピ".

Brown's Store

And finally after browsing all the lovely comics and memorabilia, next you will find yourself in the danger zone... known as Brown's store, aka the gift shop.

There were so many things sold here from food to stationary and houseware. Of course there were prints for sale as well.

I forgot to take pictures of all the things I bought which was a shame...

The details on the plastic bag, one side Snoopy, one side Charlie Brown!

stamp set, decoration tapes , cute tin of peach mints.

collection of comic strip postcards because I can't afford the prints lol

Also at the gift shop, they offer limited edition gacha you can only get here for 500 yen each!

The only downside is you wouldn't have the opportunity to twist for the gacha yourself, instead you have to inform the cashier at checkout if you want to buy them.

These were the 2 we got out of all 5 styles.

on each post, a quote is written in reflection to the specific Snoopy.

"All right troops, here we go on our spring hike."

"Here's the World War I flying ace zooming through the air in his sopwith camel."

& on the collection sheet that comes with each gacha has the full comic strip printed.

After the half an hour or so shopping around, I was told we got seats to the Snoopy Cafe "Cafe Blanket".

Happily I headed over~

Then I realized seats were for the patio outdoors...

but it's like 28 degrees outside at around noon... wtf 😱

My dad said because the line for indoors is too long so they settled for outdoors.

but WHYY?! 😡😡😡

I'd rather wait an hour sitting inside with A/C than sitting under the boiling sun.

Idek.

Cafe Blanket

At the cafe, they take orders at the cashier first, then they will bring it to your table when it is ready.

The indoor area I never got to enjoy. lol

We had 5 people so there wasn't that many choices, we pretty much just ordered everything that is offered.

The napkins, utensils, plates are all so cute and detailed.

Different comics printed on the coasters, great as a souvenir to take home!

Warm Puppy Selection (?) ウォームパピー セレクト

I don't know what this should be called in English lol but there is:

-Tuna salad

-Cheddar cheese

-Red cabbage

-Carrots

The sandwiches are all served in a adorable... dog bowl HAHA

At the bottom of the bowl is another design.

And they also serve pancakes, for those who prefer to have dessert/breakfast.

Cafe Blanket Pancake カフェブランケット パンケーキ

-Whole wheat pancakes

-Peanuts butter maple

-Fruits & whip cream

-Grape jelly

Tbh, I only ordered the pancakes because they are soo cute!

Snoopy designs printed right on the pancakes, perfect for photo opts ♥♥

Charlie Brown Milkshake チャーリー・ブラウン

-Mango juice

-Tropical fruits sauce

-Whip cream

I really like the chocolate smear on the cup, the design really resembles Charlie Brown.

My Sweet Baboo マイスウィート バブー

-Raspberry sauce

-Chocolate bits

-Whip cream

This item is limited to the "My Favourite Peanuts" exhibition

So we definitely had to order it!

After lunch, we discovered a few more details here and there...

I recommend making a visit to the washroom lol

because even in here you can find Peanuts characters, in the hallway, on the toilet, by the sink, on top of the hand dryer... it's also different between men and women washrooms.

The gender signs on the washroom door is also "Peanutized" if that's even a word lol.

The women's washroom logo is wearing Lucy's dress, and the men's washroom logo is wearing Charlie's shirt.

so creative!

On the way out of the museum is this little gem.

So! that concludes our museum tour, anyone who is a fan of Snoopy should definitely check it out as soon as possible since it is only available for a limited amount of time!
