You might recognize Kichi Kichi ザ・洋食屋 キチキチ shared from social media as it has been quite popular over the internet for the past few years.
They are known for their famous fluffy omurice aka, a dish typically made with eggs over fried rice. Having watched all the delicious videos of the making of the dish, we decided to pay a visit since we are traveling to Kyoto.
Since they are a family business, the restaurant is quite small and is very limited in space. Especially when we are a party of 5, it is necessary to make a reservation.

Kichi Kichi is found in a small alley, make sure to have your gps handy because, I don't think I would be able to find the place if I hadn't had the help of Google maps haha.
As I had mentioned in the intro, Kichi Kichi is quite small. In total, there are only 16 seats, 8 at the bar, and 8 booths. Despite their small capacity, the place seems to always have a good turnout. As stated on their site, reservation is highly recommended in advance.

By the bar, is also the open kitchen, where the owner and the chef himself will prepare your meals right before your eyes.
Food
There selection on their menu is limited, but they have a bit of everything, appetizers, soup, rice, pasta, bread...
There were also some interesting items on the menu, and I really love the names they've given the dishes LOL

超おすすめ ビーフシチュー Super Recommended Beef Stew
We ordered a beef stew because one of our friend does not fancy runny eggs. This one sounds pretty good and it even had the "super recommend" as part of its dish name, we thought it was worth a try.
The meat was soft and very flavourful, the only downside is the portion was quite small. Would accompany pretty well with a bowl of rice imo.
ふわふわ卵の逆さオムライス Fluffy Open Omelette Over Fried Rice ( Half Order)
The rest of us all ordered the famous omurice. I wasn't that hungry considering we were eating non-stop the entire day, I got the half order.
But I would advise to order the normal full size because really there isn't that much.
This is what it looks like before the magic happens! (aka cutting the omelette open)
and TA DAH~
The gooey goodness slides down the rice, pour a couple of spoonfuls of the demi-glace sauce and voila.
Just as the name itself states ふわふわ卵 (fuwa fuwa tamago) the egg is indeed very fluffy and soft.
It is seriously as good as it looks.
omg.
it is heaven on a plate lolol.
& really, if you've never seen this video, you MUST watch it now!
Verdict
Yes! This place is definitely a must for food lovers.
What are you doing? It's time to book a flight to Kyoto and try this dish out :D
Here's a picture of the chef hahah, he is so cute.
