As a part of my late birthday celebration this year, we visited the Pompompurin character cafe (ポムポムプリン カフェ) in Umeda for dinner.
In the last few years, Pompompurin has become very famous among kids and adults in Japan.
There are a stores in Tokyo and Osaka, each with its own feature menu. Since this is the Osaka store, the food and decor will definitely cater more towards showcasing Osaka's specialties.

Decor
Just like most character cafes, this one screams Pompompurin right from the entrance.

Once you step into the cafe, you will be greeted by a life-sized Pompompurin and his friends. (with its own backdrop) which pretty much means hey take a picture with me LOL.
in all they make sure you won't be able to miss this adorable little puppy anywhere you go!
From banners, to wallpaper, seats, lamps, artworks...
And if you happen to dine alone one day, Pompompurin will be here to keep you company :D
This will vary according to the location you visit, but since this is Osaka, Takoyakis and animal prints will be the focus point.

The cafe was quite spacious and can definitely cater to tables of a larger party.
& at the cashier right before you leave, two little cuties will see you out :)
Food
We are quite a large party of 5, so we could get quite the variety of items from the extensive menu choices.
When we visited it was also the celebration of Pompompurin's 20th anniversary. Thus there was a couple limited time menu choices.

Drinks
バナナテイラミスシェイク Banana Tiramisu Shake
I actually couldn't recall what this was so I'm just gonna make a wild guess and say it's a banana tiramisu milk shake, since I couldn't find it on the menu on their official site.
I know I probably should've written this blog like a year ago so I remember everything, but hey better late than never hahaha.
ラブラブ HOTなマシュマロラテ Marshmallow Latte
I really like the creative names they gave to their menu items. This one is literally the "Love love hot marshmallow latte".
On top are two marshmallows (Pompompurin and his girlfriend? Macaron) they even drew a tiny heart on top, how adorable ♥
マンゴーソーダ Mango Soda
The mango soda was very refreshing, but make sure to give it a little swirl before drinking, all the mango syrup are at the bottom.
And to top it off is a scoop of Pompompurin vanilla ice cream.
This is not your ordinary soda, it's more like an ice cream float mango soda!

Main
なかよしカップdeタコライス Taco Rice
I was very excited to have this for dinner lol, ever since I had a taco salad in Disney World, I could not forget the taste of a deconstructed taco plate. This was actually a limited time item on their menu, so I do not thing it is available anymore.
I love how they made a Pompompurin out of rice sitting in the cup, as if it's waiting for you to eat him :L
How am I supposed to dig in when you look that cute?!
ローズなミートで♪ローストビーフ丼 Roast Beef Don
Another limited time item (?) is this roast beef don. Made in celebration of his 20th anniversary, the roast beef slices makes as a cape and a rose he holds in the middle. An egg yolk in place of his signature hat.
ポムポムプリンのまろやかビーフストロガノフ Beef Stroganoff
A decent choice for those who prefers something simple, is the beef stroganoff.
祭りだ！わっしょい！お好み焼きプレート Okonomiyaki Plate
Lastly, a dish only available at the Umeda location, the okonomiyaki plate!
I loved how they made it in the shape of the famous golden retriever, and to add some variety, it is paired with some yakisoba as well.

Dessert
At this point we were pretty full, but I really wanted to try some dessert so we ordered two to share!
I believe these two mango selections were both only available in the summer time, so they were a must, also, who doesn't like mango?
ポムポムプリンのマンゴーパフェ Mango Parfait
A mango flavoured version of their parfait.

ポムポムプリンのマンゴーカキ氷 Mango Shaved Ice
This was DEFINITELY a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Took some time devouring this adorable guy.
Shaved ice topped with plenty of mango syrup, mango, and two scoops of mango sorbet. YUM.
Verdict
Yes, I would visit again at a different location. Definitely great for anyone who loves cute cafes.
The food was average, but the experience is what makes the trip!
