Tokyo 2014 Day 2

2014/5/20

Today we are touring around the Shibuya area. The famous Shibuya crossing, Shibuya 109, and all the other shopping malls surrounding it.

First Stop : 和幸 Wako

For lunch, we've decided on Wako, who specialises in Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) and other fried foods.

Originally, we were deciding on going to a ramen place, but we couldn't locate it, and we eventually gave up and settled for our second choice.

incredibly good..

They offer various lunch set menus and each set comes with a bowl of miso soup, rice, and a small plate of pickled veggies. The great thing about here is all the side dishes can be refilled, including the cabbage!

I was shocked after taking a sip of the soup. This is no ordinary miso soup, instead of the normal tofu and seaweed, it contains lots of mini clams, it was a delicious seafood miso. We had to get seconds of course. :D

A business man (so it seems) beside us refilled his rice twice, the cabbage and soup three times. He could seriously eat a lot, totally worth the money lol.

Second Stop : Q Pot Cafe

After lunch, we did some more shopping then headed to the long awaited Q Pot Cafe in Omotesando for a lovely afternoon tea ♥

I've had my eye on this place for a long time, other than the cafe, they also sell cute little accessories in shapes of sweets and desserts.

We ran into some trouble finding this quaint cafe due to my misleading gps on my phone == , but it is actually quite easy to find, as long as you take the right route lol.

The exterior is furnished like a vintage log cabin, but the inside... wowed me.

The decor of the interior has a total of 9 different themed rooms. I took pictures of some of them above. Everything was super cute, one cannot resist not taking pictures of every little thing. It was so detailed, inside the mouse's room, you could even see a mini cheesecake on the table!! How adorable?

We were seated in the bisquit room, and the tables were biscuits too!

Can things get any cuter? (yes! lol)

After much silent squealing over everything, we made our orders.

I decided on their seasonal special set, the honey lemon plate and my mom ordered the necklace plate.

We also upgraded them to combos, just add 100 yen for a drink.

Once again everything was so pretty and nicely plated.

The portions are small, and actually pretty expensive. Each plate costs about 2000 yen, so not your average desserts, but well, I think the whole experience makes it worth it.

happy me.

Third Stop : Alice Cafe

Okay I think by now you know the drill, we had a little rest back in our hotel for awhile then went out for more shopping~

A couple hours later, we stumbled upon an Alice in Wonderland themed cafe inside a mall around Shinjuku.

Although it was Alice themed, apart from the decoration it wasn't like all the other themed restaurants where everything is a reference to the movie. It was just what you would expect from a normal Japanese x Western fusion cafe.

They offer course menus where you can mix and match appetizers, mains, and desserts, according to your tastes. Each meal also comes with a salad and a drink (I think) so it was quite affordable.

One thing that caught my eye was their special Cheshire cat cake. So I ordered my meal with the cake for dessert.

I think they did a pretty good job, the cake did quite resemble the cat. Purple and pink stripes, and the two strawberries for the ears. It was a decent strawberry short cake.

Fourth Stop : Ranking Queen

After dinner, (yes you guessed it hahah) more shopping!

We went to my favourite makeup beauty shop near Shinjuku station called Ranking Queen.

As the name indicates, it ranks the products according to each category, which is super helpful when you don't know which ones to buy, happens very often since there are so many options.

The store isn't that big, but its enough for you to get lost in it for a good half an hour lol.

& then this happened...

😱😱😱

yea.. um I have no idea what happened in there, but hey, YAY for more beauty products!! :DD

I highly recommend you guys to check it out if you visit the area!

Today was a pretty chill day, not much schedule planned so it was just eat, shop, eat, shop.

But! stay tuned for day 3, we're visiting an onsen!!
