Japan 2016 - Osaka Day 8

2016/07/13

Today is more of a chill day compared to the ones before.

In general, it's a shopping day, which is not much to show here, this will mostly be a food blog of the day :)

I saw this white taiyaki in the convenience store and had to try one out for breakfast!

The white is a mochi like texture instead of what is usually used to make taiyaki, and the filling is red bean. It was pretty interesting, but I think I still prefer the traditional sweet.

First Stop: 三豐麵

Around noon we went to a nearby tsukemen shop for lunch.

Tsukemen つけめん basically means dipping noodles. Instead of having the noodles served in a soup stock like ramen, you dip your noodles into a more thick and flavourful sauce.

It was very good, the only downside was the sauce, i was too salty for my tastes. Another customer sitting near us literally downed the sauce along with his noodles like it was soup and asked for a refill. I don't know what to say...

Second Stop: Pablo Dotonbori

Having watched many videos of this famous cheese tart cafe, today is the day wee try it out for ourselves!

Usually Pablo is only a small shop for takeouts, but there have been some full scale cafes open at a few locations.

So we have arrived at the two story Pablo Cafe in Dotonbori!!

Here's a little sneak peek of the Dotonbori shop limited takoyaki cheese tart ;)

After a chaotic shopping experience that tired us out, we thought it was time for some dinner.

I've been eyeing this place since i first saw it, and this was the perfect opportunity to try it out!

Just as the name suggests, it is a Kushikatsu specialty restaurant.

There were a lot of options to choose from, kind of overwhelming if you have no idea what to order.

We ordered one of the combos, so we had a bit of everything to share since we weren't that hungry to begin with.

The waitress who took our order spoke so fast I couldn't quite understand what she was asking us. Apparently she's Chinese, so she then repeated in Chinese, and we still couldn't understand... LOL

My mom was "??" with a puzzled face. So this shows it's not us who have hearing problems :L

A mix of shrimp, mochi, renkon, fish balls, chicken, pork, squid?

Overall, the food was decent, the kushis were well fried and ingredients fresh.

The service on the other hand, sad to say, didn't quite live up to our standards. Our waitress had a poker face the entire time serving us, and just didn't seem that wanting to help. I can't speak for the entire store, but this was just our experience :(

This was quite the popular photo spot haha!
