Japan 2016 - Tokyo Day 2

2016/07/07

First Stop: Snoopy Museum

The Snoopy Museum is one of the new additions to the Tokyo area since its opening in April of this year.

I have been looking forward to visit the museum for such a long time and we are finally here!

The first Snoopy Museum in the world!

How amazing does that sound already? :DD

I'm only going to briefly talk about the experience here otherwise this post would go on forever.

The museum is mainly divided into four sections: the introduction hall, main gallery, gift shop, and the cafe.

About every 6 months, the exhibition theme will change, so when I visited, the theme was "愛しのピーナッツMy Favourite Peanuts". Apparently once the exhibition changes, the gift shop and the cafe will change as well according to the specific theme!

So after half a day of hanging out at the Snoopy Museum, we headed over to Roppongi for the Asahi TV station.

This would be a great place to visit if you are familiar with Japanese cartoons and shows.

Visitors are only allowed on the ground floor, and each show is divided into its own section as a display.

Shin-chan! & family

Please don't step inside like we did, I didn't realise until after I took the photo... lol woops

Music Station! there's even seats for the audience in the back HAHA

I actually don't know this show, but it looked hilarious so we took a photo.

:DD

Tetsuko no heya!

There was a recording of the beginning of the show welcoming the guests you can press a button to play. You can pretend to be the featured guests on the show and walk up into the set to meet Tetsuko lol.

& the last display, aka my favourite...

DORAEMON

Probably the biggest section shown here, there are four components.

The dokodemo door, of course, a must.

The famous time machine!

Soo excited to see this gadget on display lol, they allow you to actually sit on it as if you are operating the machine!! omg.

How cool is that!? hahaha sorry, I love my Doraemon♥

Next is Nobita's room...

haha my brother's impression.

too bad we couldn't actually step inside the room, it would be so much fun.

on the "hallway" floor is a sheet of paper...

It's Nobita's test paper!

tsk tsk, a big fat zero

On both sides of the room, are mini versions of Doraemon's gadgets.

*

There was purikura machines in the back with Asahi TV themed backgrounds.

:)

While we're on the topic of Doraemon, I found some exciting things in the gift shop.

On the left is the air canon gadget! Isn't this every kid's dream? LOL

On the right are bath powder/salts. But each one has a sort of a theme according the the featured character.

Notably Suneo's money bath and Jaiko's maiden bath. ooh how tempting does that sound.

Also, I found this little guy..

hmm let's see what I have inside..

Doraemon's pouch! This was a coin pouch and I really really really wanted it (who doesn't).

We (well mainly me) spent a little too much time here lol, so let's move on.

Third Stop: Roppongi Hills / Harbs

Right beside the Asahi TV station is the Roppongi Hills shopping mall.

From the get go, you will spot the famous giant tarantula/spider standing in the front.

I HATE spiders, so one picture and we're done, get me out of here.

*

Our main goal for coming here is to visit Harbs, a renowned Japanese dessert cafe. Similar to Lady M, they serve mille crepe, and many other types of cakes as well.

It was a weekday when we visited, but the store was still very busy, we even had a little wait.

I heart Harbs♥

In total we were a party of 5, and we each ordered one type, so you can probably imagine, there was A LOT of cake.

Two of the best selling cakes were the mille crepe and the fresh fruits cake.

Both of them are made with a variety of fresh fruits, which goes really well in balance with the cream.

omnomnom

Fourth Stop: 東京駅 / 一番街 Tokyo Station / Ichibangai

This is my second time visiting, except I didn't come up to see the station itself last time I was here. I did some research and found out Tokyo station is a lovely Western styled red brick building preserved since the time of opening in 1914.

Isn't it beautiful? But we only gazed at it from a distance due to constructions around the area.

Now heading down to the underground shopping street.

There was an exciting event happening when we visited...

It's the 5th anniversary of the mobile game Nameko Neo Mushroom Garden (なめこ栽培キット) !!

There was a large area set up for this event, as well as participation from selected stores in the Ichibangai. How exciting is this?

For those of you who are not familiar with this game/character, it is basically a mobile phone app that let's you grow mushrooms. lol

It's the mushroom king!

A complete stamp station of all the different designs from past events, probably close to 20 of them!

Fortunately I brought my new stamp book and began stamping away :D

We didn't have time to go around the participating store for the event but we did shop around the Nameko merchandise section.

It's a golden rooster Nameko hahah

We also took a little stroll inside the TBS giftshop.

I found these two gems.

From Hanzawa Naoki 半沢直樹 and his famous catchphrase, やられたら 倍返しだ (If someone wrongs you, get them back double!). Thus these are based on the show, 倍返し饅頭 (payback steamed buns) haha.

A more recent drama from TBS Dame na watashi ni koishite kudasai ダメな私に恋してください. It is a very cute love comedy played by Fukada Kyoko and Dean Fujioka. This is one of the dishes they make all the time in the show, an omrice, with messages written in ketchup! Truly made me laugh.

After a little more shopping we headed to the supermarket again to buy some dinner. Since it was our last night in Tokyo, we bought quite a feast, anything that looked delicious was in our basket.

I really cannot tell you what each specific one is, because there is just too much going on..

So I will leave it to your imagination LOL.

But one thing for sure is everything in Japan tastes great!

& our time in Tokyo comes to an end, next time we are heading west to Kyoto, stay tuned :)
